Hannover Congress Centrum (HCC) - that's the old city hall, the "Stadthalle" and the "Niedersachsenhalle"-, the "Glass- and Eilenriedehalle" - a lot of room for conferences and big events. The city hall is a large domed round structure with a classical portico. It was designed by Paul Bonatz and finished just before the First World War broke out. The latin inscription above the portico tells that it was the intention of the city to have a place built for the arts. It is here where important congresses and celebrations take place, where world famous artists give their performances. The acoustics of the "Kuppelsaal" meet the highest standards.
At the back of the city hall there is a lovely park and garden with fountains, ponds, lawns, a rose garden and works of art. The "Stadtpark" was designed in 1951 when the first "Bundesgartenschau" took place right here. Numerous attractions derive from that time, like a lot of the sculptures and a bridge leading into the "Eilenriede", the city's forest. There is also a pavilion and a japanese tea house. Visitors of the HCC who stay overnight at the "Hotel am Stadtpark" could miss this lovely park together, because they can use an underground passageway between the city hall and the hotel. But when they look out of the window they have a very good view of the park.
