Guided tours, lectures, seminars, workshops
Guided tours take place on a regular schedule (Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., Sundays at 11:30 a.m.).
Group tours through the permanent collection or current special exhibitions can be booked for any time; English and French guided tours are available by appointment.
Moreover, lectures (Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.), seminars and workshops (partly in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Hannover) are scheduled.
Guided tours for the Sight-Impaired and Blind
Various touch and experience tours are directed at blind and sight-impaired visitors and are offered by appointment to small groups as well as school classes (grades 4 to 12).
Services for the Hearing Impaired
Our museum offers guided tours translated into German Sign Language (DGS). Dates by appointment.
Communication equipment is available for visitors with hearing aids or cochlear implants that enable the hearing impaired to take part in guided tours, lectures and seminars. We can gladly organize special appointments for interested groups.
Museum parties
Museum parties take place three times a year. Once in a year the museum joins many other institutions in the city for the “Museum Night”.
A large children’s party takes place on a Sunday early in the year. An extensive and attractive hands-on program is offered under a different theme every year.
In autumn visitors can enjoy to music, guided tours and special events in conjunction with the Museum Party.
School and museum
The “EinBlick” program provides information about the services for school classes in the permanent exhibition. It is oriented on all types of schools and age groups. Special requests will be gladly fulfilled. Separate programs are offered for special exhibitions.
Children and family afternoons, holiday events
Museum talks and workshops for children between the ages of six and twelve take place once a month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoons (registration required). Under the motto “with kit and caboodle” the museum offers light-hearted tours through the museum and practice-oriented events for families on Sunday afternoons (registration not required).
The museum organizes a wide-ranging workshop program during the Easter and summer holiday.
For our youngest visitors: Kindergarten and Co.
The museum also provides short, practice-oriented guided tours and workshops to its youngest visitors. Courses suited for children from age four are offered on such themes as “pattern experiments,” “worlds of colour” and “testing materials”.
Children’s birthdays/parties
Interested in a different kind of birthday celebration? The birthday group can dress and make up themselves like ancient Egyptians, work as little archaeologists or examine such exciting questions as “why does a cup have a saucer?” Two-hour “discovery parties” on Friday, Saturday or Sunday afternoons can be booked for up to twelve children from age seven.
