Sabine Tegtmeyer-Dette was elected Director of Economic and Environmental Affairs and First City Councillor of the City of Hannover on 15 November 2012 by the City Council. She took office on 1 August 2013.
Like all Directors, she has been elected for a term of office of eight years. As 'First City Councillor' she is the deputy of the Mayor and CEO of the City of Hanover and thus in his absence the Head of the City Administration.
