Hannover Science Initiative

HannoVersity

With the new HannoVersity series of events, the Hannover Science Initiative (Initiative Wissenschaft) invites international and German students to "look beyond the university walls". In the winter semester there is an opportunity to change perspective every month.

The aim of the series is to provide an insight into other fields of research at different locations in the city and at the universities and to establish international contacts and networks beyond one's own academic life in a relaxed atmosphere.

Programme in Winter Semester 2017/18

There are seven offerings in this winter semester. The Student Service Organisation (Studentenwerk Hannover) awaits guests at the "Wohnhausmusiktage". The Senior Student Partnership Project of the Leibniz University invites you to bake christmas cookies. An ERASMUS concert is held at the Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media (Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien). The Hannover Medical School (Medizinische Hochschule) and the Hannover University of Veterinary Medicine (Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover) offer guided tours through their skills labs. And finally, at the Lower Saxony Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Development (Niedersächsisches Zentrum für Biomedizintechnik, Implantatforschung und Entwicklung (Nife)), deals with the question: "What is Biomedical Engineering?"

Kick-Off at the New Town Hall

On 1 November 2017 Mayor Stefan Schostok started the HannoVersity series in the New Town Hall. Together, the town hall is explored (guided tour in German and English). Afterwards, the state capital invites you to a "get-together" with drinks and snacks.

Program for "Welcome Culture for International Students"

HannoVersity is part of the program "Welcome Culture for International Students". For two years Hannover has developed strategic goals and projects as a pilot region to improve the welcome culture for international students. Participants are: Universities, Student Union, Employment Agency, Hanova Housing Company and the State Capital of Hanover. 64 activities were developed in the areas of housing, study funding, integration, diversity and anti-discrimination, perspectives - staying or going? as well as university access for fugitives. The moderation of the process was in the hands of the Bertelsmann Stiftung.
