The Rebirth cluster of excellence links together the Hannover Medical School, the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, the Leibniz University of Hannover, the Hannover Laser Centre, the Fraunhofer Institute of Toxicology and Experimental Medicine, the Mariensee Institute for Animal Breeding, the Max Planck Institute of Münster (MPI) and the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig as well as the Twincore Centre for Experimental and Clinical Infection Research.
Hearing4all cluster of excellence
In 2012, the Hearing4all cluster of excellence was adopted into the funding programme. The lead institution in the consortium that focuses on hearing is Oldenburg University, which submitted the successful application together with the Hannover Medical School and the Leibniz University of Hannover. The Hannover and Oldenburg Hearing Centres as well as the Hannover Laser Centre charitable institution are also involved.
Quest and HBRS
Funding for the QUEST centre of excellence as well as for the Hannover Biomedical Research School came to an end in 2012. The Hannover Medical School is continuing to manage the Hannover Biomedical Research School.
Biomedical technology: Interdisciplinary networking
For a good decade now, biomedical technology in Hannover has benefited from interdisciplinary networking – the Medical School, the University of Veterinary Medicine, the Leibniz University and the Hannover Laser Centre combine natural and engineering sciences with proven cutting-edge medicine within a unique constellation. Since 2009, the partners have pooled their expertise in the Lower Saxony Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Implant Research and Development (Nife).
