A large variety of images of old age by numerous artists are the subject of the exhibition shown until 18 February at the Landesmuseum Hannover.

"Portrait of Frau Luther" by Lovis Corinth, 1911, oil on canvas, 115,5x86 cm

The exhibition was put together in cooperation with the Sprengel Museum Hannover and shows works of art depicting old people from ancient Egypt to the present. More than 120 exhibits, including top-class loans from Rome, Chicago, Basel and Berlin, draw a complex picture of old age with all its facets. The show takes place in cooperation with Wilhelm Busch – German Museum for Caricature and Drawing and is funded by the Stiftung Niedersachsen and the RHH Foundation.
