Encantado also means "enchanted". Lia Rodrigues and her Companhia de Danças tell the story of what it means to be enchanted and bring together the most diverse creatures in a breathtaking choreography. Hundreds of colourful and patterned blankets from the markets of Rio de Janeiro clothe and transform the dancers' naked bodies. Movements move from one body to the next: water becomes a centipede and the centipede becomes a mushroom. Everything is "encantado".
The performance is fuelled by the music of the indigenous Guarani Mbya community: a great crescendo with repetitive rhythms that were sung as a sign of resistance on the streets of Brazil. The evening is a powerful demonstration of diversity and joie de vivre and opposes the destruction of the indigenous habitat.
Lia Rodrigues is one of Brazil's most important artistic voices. She founded the Companhia de Danças in Rio de Janeiro's largest favela, with which she tours the world's major stages.
