Garden Church and Cemetery

Many a celebrity lies in the garden cemetery.

The church was built from 1887 to 1891 by the architect Rudolph Eberhard Hillebrand. The church is a neo-Gothic hall church made of Deister sandstone and was inaugurated on February 8, 1891. Many celebrities are buried in the garden cemetery in front of it, including Charlotte Kestner. She was the model for Lotte in Goethe's "The Sorrows of Young Werther".
