Dragon Boat Festival
More than 3.500 paddlers take part in the annual dragon boat festival on the lake Maschsee. Germany's biggest event of this kind takes place over Whitsun weekend.

"Are you ready? Attention. GO!": Whitsun will be much influenced by dragon boats - as usual. The Hannoversche Kanu-Club from 1921 presents the more and more popular dragon boat race already the twentieth time. Consequently, the organizers have to deal with more participants than ever.
More than 3.500 paddlers compete in the categories "Fun Fun", "Fun Sports", "Mass Sports" und "High Performance Sports". Races kick of at 9 o'clock on Saturday and Sunday, spectators are free of charge.
Dragon boat fans throughout Europe are well aware of this event. Surely, Hannover's central location contributes to this, but even more the fact that the lake is placed at the heart of the city.
