Kurt Schwitters

Dadaist and inventor of MERZkunst

Kurt Schwitters was born on June 20, 1887 in Hanover. He was a Dadaist, invented MERZkunst and wrote, among other things, the well-known poem „Anna Blume“.

Schwitters emigrated to Norway in 1936 and from there to England. He died there in 1948 at the age of 60. A large part of his works can be seen in the Sprengel Museum on Kurt-Schwitters-Platz.
