Carnival Parade 2025

On the Saturday before Shrove Monday, the big carnival parade in Hanover traditionally starts at 1:11 p.m. In 2025, March 1st is the day.

From the meeting point behind the New Town Hall, it goes via Culemannstraße into the city centre: past the market hall and behind the Old Town Hall, the path leads via the Marktkirche to the World Exhibition Square, then via Kröpcke, Georgstraße and Schmiedestraße to the end point at the Ernst-August brewery, where the big final party takes place. It comes up in the course of the events temporary road closures .

On the place of the World Exhibition is a small stage with a presenter to the train. From 11:11 a.m. there will be a small program to get you in the mood for the carnival parade.

Carnival tradition in Hanover

Hanover is one of the carnival strongholds in Lower Saxony. In the state capital, the foolish goings-on also have a blue-blooded tradition: the Hanoverian electors celebrated carnival based on the Venetian model as early as the 17th century. More can be found here (in German only):
