Mirliton

The one, Aymeric Hainaux, is a beatboxer, musician and draughtsman. The other, François Chaignaud, is a dancer, choreographer and singer.

A musical and theatrical duel develops with voices, microphones, loudspeakers, bells, bodies and hard heels on the stage floor.

Chaignaud and Hainaux test each other’s musical boundaries. They go in search of rarely explored forms of song and rhythm. Somewhere between extremely raw and loud and unbelievably close and tender, Chaignaud and Hainaux reach a state of physical and musical intensity.

The two internationally acclaimed artists present a mixture of performance and concert, full of the melancholy of vanished rituals and the aggressiveness of reality. The duo is as versatile and difficult to pin down as a ‘mirliton’ (a French word meaning a small flute, a military headpiece, and old coin or a cake).
