A Homage to Anton Plate

He was an important figure in the musical life of the city Hanover and a highly respected professor at the University of Music, Drama and Media.

For these reasons the KunstFestSpiele are devoting a special evening to the memory of the composer, who died in September 2023. The GrauSchumacher Piano Duo place two of his pieces at the heart of their programme. Greasy Luck and A Rose for Emily make reference in different ways to works by the great American writers Herman Melville, Henry D. Thoreau and William Faulkner.

These pieces are framed by Schubert and Ravel, whose music Anton Plate particularly appreciated. Schubert’s Fantasia in F Minor was one of his absolute favourites.
