The Great I Am Not in the Mood for This Show

The new show by the Dutch children’s and youth theatre company Artemis is all about this moment of being discovered.

Three unremarkable, rather shy people suddenly find themselves at the centre of attention. Actually they thought they were alone, but suddenly there’s an audience! Everyone’s looking! What to do? Running away is impossible, so is hiding. It could be so awkward and embarrassing. Maybe it’s better to take the bull by the horns, smile, put on a bit of a show.

Our three protagonists are supported by a ‘big’ show orchestra of characters who strangely all look the same. Together they stagger towards a glorious finale. With his quirky sense of humour, director Jetse Batelaan is a specialist for absurd situations. Hardly any words are needed in his shows for children and adults. The comedy comes out of everyday situations.
